Mikladalur and the cliffs

Seen from Barsskor, the ferry that plied between Klaksvik and the various villages on the islands of Kalsoy and Kunoy. It still plies this stretch of water, but doesn’t visit Mikladalur or Trøllanes any more – they have a bus from Húsar, at the southern end of Kalsoy.

Mikladalur is the village on the left of the picture. The path from Mikladalur to Trøllanes goes right across the face of the cliffs to the right, and around to Trøllanes which is round the furthest headland on the right.

Just above the village you can just about make out where they were starting to dig the tunnel through the mountain to Trøllanes (you’ll probably need to click on the full view to see this). This tunnel is now complete, has been for years.
