Favourite Authors, Artists & Musicians

My favourite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Ursula Le Guin and Mervyn Peake.

I also like Mark Twain, Lewis Carroll, George Orwell, Arthur Ransome, Beatrix Potter, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and A. A. Milne (although it would have been more considerate of Milne not to use his son’s real name in the published version of the books).

A few individual titles, by other authors, that I particularly like:

Fight Club (Chuck Palahniuk)
A Clockwork Orange (Anthony Burgess)
Lark Rise to Candleford (Flora Thompson)
A Pale View of Hills (Kazuo Ishiguro)
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
The Lorax (Dr Seuss).

My favourite artists are Hieronymus Bosch, M. C. Escher, W. Heath Robinson, Zdzisław Beksiński and Nikolay Bogdanov-Belsky. I should also mention Arthur Rackham and Quentin Blake.

It’s harder to list my favourite musicians; the list could be very long and it’s hard to know where to call a halt. But here goes: Saint-Saëns, Joan Armatrading, Joni Mitchel, Björk, Leonard Cohen, the Eurythmics, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Paul Robeson, Simon and Garfunkel, Leon Rosselson. Not necessarily in that order! E&OE.
