The First Greenhouse (February 2006)
Constructed almost entirely from scavenged materials (that is, other people’s rubbish). Bought: corrugated pvc for the roof (I didn’t fancy having heavy double glazed units overhead), a few bags of cement, some sand, some screws.
The biggest scavenged items were all those double glazed patio doors and those opening window units for the corners – all picked up at the local dump. The bricks and timber were a non-trivial bit of scavenging, too. The brickwork has a cavity (!), filled with old packaging foam for insulation.
Catching the evening sunshine.
There’s another one now, very similar to this one (August 2007).
