Klaksvik seen from the top of Myrkjanoyrarfjall

There is a sensible way up to the top of Myrkjanoyrarfjall – I know, I came down that way. The way I went up is NOT sensible, and I don’t recommend it. I wouldn’t be able to find it again anyway, even if the terrain hasn’t changed in the last 35 years.

One of first panoramas I ever did, stitched up the old-fashioned way by cutting prints along the midline of the overlap and sticking them on a backing card – and this one before I realized you have to make sure the horizon is halfway up each shot if you don’t want a curved horizon.

There are at least four islands visible in this shot: Borðoy, Kunoy, Kalsoy and Eysturoy. Whether any of the distant summits are on Streymoy, I don’t know. The flat topped peak at far left may be Nólsoy, I’m not sure – it looks the right shape, and it’s roughly in the right direction, but it may simply be a bit of the headland south of Klaksvik.
