Kvivik

Kvivik is on the island of Streymoy – the same island as Tórshavn. The headland on the left of the photo is also part of Streymoy, but all the other bits of land are different islands. From the left: Streymoy, Hestur (the Horse), Sandoy, Koltur (the Colt), and Vágar. Between Koltur and Vágar it’s the open Atlantic.

Vágar has the only airport in the Faroes – it’s the only island with a big enough flat patch of land!

(The -oy suffix means island in Faroese. -vik means bay.)
