South Harris

This flight was for work – helping Scottish Schools’ Equipment Research Centre (SSERC) staff deliver a training course for teachers at Sgoil Lionacleit (the secondary school on Benbecula). At that time I was Depute Coordinator for TVEI in Stornoway; later I was appointed Senior Project Officer at SSERC.

I actually had an unscheduled extra night on Benbecula, because the weather was too rough for the plane to stop for me. We saw it fly over on its way from Barra to Stornoway. The SSERC staff managed to get back to Edinburgh; their much bigger plane was able to land and take off again safely despite the wind.
