Barbican, London – depressing enough at the best of times, but in the rain and deserted – even at 11:30 am on a working Friday – even more so.
Apparently there are quite a few people who don’t find it depressing. But I find it depressing, and so do quite a lot of other people, I know. Which group is in the majority, I’ve no idea.
Some people find the places I really love – wild, windswept mountain country and rocky coastlands – depressing. But I don’t, and there are a lot of other people who don’t. Which group is in the majority, I’ve no idea.
I don’t find all cityscapes depressing, far from it. There are places in London I really like, and in many cities – but not this.
The library inside the Barbican Centre is fabulous – or was, in 2008, and may well still be. But I’ve not been in there since 2008.
