Rather a Steep Railway

The railway is called Fløibanen, and it takes you up a hill called Fløyen, from close to the centre of Norway’s second city, Bergen. It’s technically a funicular railway.

It has two vehicles, both similar, one on each end of a long steel cable going over a big pulley at the top, and lying in pulleys between the rails. There’s a single track most of the way, with a passing loop halfway up the hill.
