Dawn in the North??

  


No, that's not the sun below the horizon just before dawn – I took this shot more than an hour before sunrise, and that light is almost due north. Faslane nuclear submarine base, nine miles away...why so much light? Depending on atmospheric conditions, it's often like that. Far brighter than Helensburgh, which is much larger and closer than Faslane.

With modern navigation systems, anyone who wants to bomb the nucular sub base doesn't need lights like that to guide them in!
