Dawn at Ullapool Harbour, Scotland.

It was so stormy the previous evening that the sailing to Stornoway was cancelled. We sailed later the morning I took this shot – but then it was still too rough to dock in Stornoway, and the ship (the Isle of Lewis) had to potter about outside the harbour for well over an hour before we could dock.

A lot of people were very green during the crossing and the pottering about. I’m lucky; I’m not much affected (on big ships, that is – I’ve been very sick in a small motorboat).

This was on a visit to old friends on Lewis, years after we left.
