Note that the beak in the reflection is not just darker, it’s actually a different colour. The is because the yellow light reflected from the beak is a mixture of several frequencies, some of which are differently polarized from others – some perhaps not polarized at all. Then light is reflected from water, or passes into the water, differently according to how it’s polarized.
