Hindi Typewriter

Almost all old Hindi typewriters have this layout, which is fairly well designed for fast touch-typing in Hindi. Many modern typewriters and computers use a different layout, which is similar to the US layout, with the characters placed where an English character that sounds similar is placed. Since there’s no 1:1 correspondence between English and Hindi letters, this really doesn’t work very well at all.
